Update: AICC Hotel Discount Extended to May 29

Good news in tight times. The DoubleTree Suites has responded to the AICC and extended the room discount availability until May 29, 2009. The special AICC meeting rate saves over $80 USD per night compared to the standard rates. Visit the AICC Meeting Information page and follow the link to AICC Orlando Meeting Information and Agenda for details on the discount, travel, venue and agenda.

All participants must also register with AICC to confirm their meeting participation. This includes, guest speakers, members and general participants. Follow the link to Register for the AICC Orlando Meeting as found on the AICC Meeting Information page. The meeting dates are June 16-18, 2009.

Make your reservations for the AICC June 2009 Meeting

The hotel group discount rate deadline is May 16, 2009. Participants and presenters need to make their hotel reservations soon for the AICC Meeting June 16-18, 2009. Be kind to your travel budget. The AICC meeting rate saves over $80 USD per night compared to the standard rates.

Participants (or their travel agent) must contact the hotel directly and use the proper rate code for the discount. Meeting Announcement and Call for Presentations

The AICC is meeting in Orlando, FL USA on June 16-18, 2009. Meeting logistics and registration information is available from the AICC Meeting Information page.

AICC meetings are open to all interested parties. Representatives of member organizations in good standing (i.e., have paid their annual membership dues), meeting speakers, and airlines, will not be charged for participation. AICC voting members, observer members, and invited guest speakers will not be charged a fee. Non-members will need to pay a $150 USD fee as part of the registration process.

Call for Presentations
The AICC welcomes presentations on aviation training case studies and success stories, lessons learned, emerging technologies, and emerging needs for training and training systems. Past presenters have included representatives from airlines, aviation, research organizations, regulatory agencies, technology, software and service suppliers.

Interested parties should submit a presentation title, brief description, speaker title, and speaker contact information by sending an email to: presentations [AT] aicc.org.

Presentation proposals may be submitted immediately and are due no later than May 18, 2009. Presentation slots are limited. Presentations will be evaluated as they arrive, with presentations from airlines receiving top priority.

June Meeting at a North American Location Near You

The AICC is looking for an organization to host its June meeting. In exchange for hosting, the organization is free to participate as leading organizations in aviation training design, implementation and delivery join together to discuss products, processes, issues and solutions. This will be the only AICC meeting in North America in 2009 and represents a unique opportunity.

Meetings usually run for four days with typical participation of 30-40 representatives from airframe manufacturers, key component suppliers, training service providers, hardware and software vendors. Past participants have included representatives from:

International Aviation Training Conference February 2009

The AICC is meeting in Singapore on February 24-27, 2009 at the Alteon Singapore Training Center. There is an open call for sessions on innovation in aviation training and related technologies. Selected topics will be presented during meeting sessions on February 24-26, 2009.

Airlines, aviation suppliers, and government agencies are encouraged to use this opportunity to showcase their learning organizations, learning programs, and initiatives that may be of interest to their peers in aviation.

Software vendors, providers of training services and technologies supporting learning, training and e-learning for aviation are also encouraged to participate. Suggested topics include case studies, project reviews or advance technology demonstrations in the areas of:

  • ICAO English
  • Crew coordination
  • Recurrent training
  • Workforce development planning and management
  • Authoring, media development, content management, and learning support systems
  • Metric and assessments
  • Deployment technology, including mobile learning and EFB (Electronic Flight Bag)
  • International specifications and standards relating to learning and training

Submit a presentation title, brief description, speaker title, and speaker contact information by sending email to: presentations [AT] aicc.org. Those already approved to present at the rescheduled January meeting will be given first consideration.

AICC Call for Presentations- December Deadline

The has an open call for presentations on innovation in Aviation Training and related technology. A limited number of presentation slots are still available for the January 2009 meetings in Mumbai. Presentation proposals may be submitted effective immediately. The final deadline is December 19, 2008.

Airlines, aviation suppliers, and government agencies are encouraged to use this opportunity to showcase their learning organizations, learning programs, and initiatives that may be of interest to their peers in aviation.

Providers of training services and technologies supporting learning & training and e-learning for aviation are also encouraged to participate. This may include case studies or advance technology demonstrations in the areas of authoring, media development, content management, learning management, assessments systems, deployment. mobile systems and other areas.

Submit a presentation title, 50-75 word presentation description, speaker title, and speaker contact information by sending email to: presentations [AT] aicc.org.

Presentation proposals are due no later than close of business on December 19, 2008.

Meeting Minutes and Call for Presentations

Electronic versions of the presentations and the meeting minutes from the AICC September 2008 Louisville meetings are available online. See the AICC Louisville Meeting Minutes page for the minutes and a link to all of the available online presentations.

The next AICC meeting is scheduled for January 2009 in Mumbai. As an international organization, the AICC always encourages participation from across the globe.

For the January meeting, the AICC is particularly interested in ideas, topics and presentations from organizations in the Pan-Pacific and Indian Ocean areas.

Suggestions for discussion topics and presentation proposals should be sent to presentations@aicc.org for review.

Though membership is encouraged, presenters do not need to be AICC members. Typically, meeting attendance fees are waived for guest presenters. As always, representatives from AICC Voting Members and Observer Members may attend meetings free of charge. Non-members are always welcome to attend any general session of the AICC and can chose to pay a nominal meeting fee instead of annual membership.

The meeting logistics and schedule for January are being confirmed by the meeting host. Details will be posted here in approximately two weeks.

Meeting Logistics and Draft Agenda for September in Louisville

It is time to start making your arrangements for the next AICC meeting to be held September 29, 2008 - October 3, 2008 in Louisville, Kentucky hosted by United Parcel Service (UPS). Details to help you make your travel plans are available from the draft agenda on the AICC Meeting Information page.

A few presentation slots are still available will speaker sessions are being finalized. If you are interested, send a session title and speaker information to: presentations@aicc.org.

Note that on Thursday UPS will provide a hosted lunch. No AICC committee sessions are scheduled for Friday. A local Adobe representative has arranged a site-seeing tour that is available on Friday, but advanced registration is required. See the meeting information for details.

ADL-AICC-LETSI Workshop February 1, 2008

The AICC will host a half-day ADL-AICC-LETSI Workshop on Content Aggregation for Core SCORM on Friday, February 1, 2008 in conjunction with the AICC meeting in San Jose, California. A wiki page providing some candidate issues for discussion is available on the LETSI wiki at: http://www.letsi.org/letsi/display/TRWG/Content+Aggregation+Workshop (site requires a no cost registration).

Interested parties are requested to submit a one page position statement in advance of the meeting. Those unable to attend in person are also welcome to submit a position statement. A small meeting fee applies for non-AICC members attending the meeting and also covers participation in the general AICC meeting earlier in the week. Presentation Opportunities for Airlines & Vendors, Deadline Approaching

The AICC is hosting two workshops in June 2007, Airline Innovations in Learning and Content Description & Discovery for Learning.

The deadline for submitting presentation proposals is next week. Airlines are encouraged to use this workshop to showcase their learning organizations, learning programs, and initiatives that may be of interest to their peers in aviation.

Likewise, vendors, airlines and others are encouraged to present at the second workshop to address metadata, search and indexing of learning content. This may include tools & best practices for metadata entry, automated metadata generation, indexing for search & discovery, federated search or other related topics.

The AICC is hosting a Workshop on Airline Innovations in Learning. We would like to provide a forum for airlines to showcase their learning organizations, learning programs, and initiatives that may be of interest to their peers in aviation. The presentation proposal deadline is April 16th, 2007. Selected presentations will be delivered at the AICC Meetings in June 2007. Qualified presenters are encouraged to submit presentation proposals addressing areas including:

  • Tools & Best Practices for Training Development
  • Tools & Best Practices for Training Delivery
  • Organizational Structures to Support Training Development & Delivery
  • Online & Distance Learning Strategies
  • System & Tool Acquisition and ROI

Ideal presentations will have practical examples or use cases directly applicable to technology-based training in an aviation environment. The AICC would like to have a balance of presentation content that addresses current and emerging practices and end-user/implementer experiences.

The AICC is hosting a Workshop on Content Description & Discovery for Learning. The presentation proposal deadline is April 16th, 2007. Selected presentations will be delivered at AICC Meetings June 4-8, 2007. Qualified presenters are encouraged to submit presentation proposals addressing areas including:

  • Tools and Best Practices for Metadata Entry & Collection
  • Automated Metadata Generation

PENS Plugfest News

The AICC will host a PENS Interoperability Plugfest on September 19-20, 2006 in conjunction with the AICC Meetings being held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Meeting information).

The PENS (Package Exchange Notification Services) Plugfest allows customers and vendors of elearning tools and systems for authoring, assessment, and management to demonstrate and assess effective integrations leveraging PENS.

PENS plugfest begins with an open interoperability lab session that allows vendors to verify their PENS implementations with each other, and with the validation systems available from the AICC. Customers can interact with vendors to better understand the value added by individual vendors via their implementation of PENS as client and/or server.

The second day of the PENS Plugfest includes presentations from customers, vendors and the PENS Project team. The goal is to provide information for anyone interested in seeing and understanding the workflow, integration and automation capabilities enabled through PENS.

Those wishing to participate as a system vendor for demonstrations and/or presentations should contact Tom King, AICC Communication Chairperson at tom.king@aicc.org for additional information.

Interested observers are welcome to attend the PENS Plugfest or AICC general meetings, subject to standard visitor meeting fees. The AICC encourages interested parties to consider joining as using the AICC online membership application.
