The following are the summary results of the the AICC Technology-Based Training Survey. The purpose of the survey was to find out more about how technolgy-based training is being used today and how organizations are going about migration to the web.

The following was presented at the AICC Meeting in Sedona, Arizona :

  • The survey was conducted from 30-June-2000 to 18-Sep-2000
  • The survey was comprised of 15 questions total.
  • 127 people responded to the survey.
  • The survey population was composed AICC website visitors and AICC members solicted via the AICC's mailing lists.
  • 32 respondents were from aviation industry organizations. (15 airlines, 9 aircraft or system manufacturers, and the FAA)
  • Some responses were excluded from the summary results below if they included contradictory or incomplete data.
  • All questions allow for the selection of one or more responses. (so response statistics will add up to more than 100% on some questions)
  • Each of the question responses below is a show below as a percentages for 3 relevant groups:
  1. All repondents to the survey. (all questions)
  2. Aviation Industry repondents to the survey. (questions 1-10)
  3. Commercial Airline repondents to the survey.(question 8)
  • An excel spreadsheet with the "raw" results and a Power Point presentation (complete with bar charts) are available in the following zip file: [survey.zip - approx 2.1 Megabytes]

15. Comments/Suggestions for this survey:

Responses to Question #15

  • Would like a survey with more details about WBT :
    • asynchronous study guide
    • online assessment
    • synchronous web broadcasts
    • knowledge bases
  • The AICC standard seems to becoming the global standard even though the guidelines were initially developed for the aviation industry
  • Would be interested in the results
  • How do you classify the responding companies, if indeed you can and what are their methodologies
  • This survey does not address a single product or product suite. In the future it may be beneficial to state the interpretation of the text to ensure that organizations do not single out a product that fits the technology and solution profile of this form and potentially leave off other solutions they may provide
