AICC Certifies Macromedia Authorware 6

Macromedia Visual E-Learning Authoring Software Earns AICC Certification

SUGAR CITY, Idaho — August 28th, 2001 — Aviation Industry CBT Committee announced today that Macromedia Authorware, the leading software for e-learning development, has been formally certified by the AICC as compliant with the AICC’s AGR-010 (Web-based CMI Systems) guideline. Macromedia has long been an advocate of the AICC and open, industry standards for creating and delivering e-learning content.

Macromedia Authorware (http://www.macromedia.com/software/authorware/) is visual authoring software for creating rich-media e-learning content for delivery on the Web, intranets, and CD-ROM. Since first introducing AICC-compliant data tracking functions within Authorware in 1998, Macromedia has been a leader in implementing support for AICC guidelines.

"We're proud to achieve official recognition and certification for the AICC specifications that we have advocated and supported for so many years," said Tom King, director of learning partnerships and standards, Macromedia. "Macromedia Authorware is committed to delivering not only the most approachable authoring environment for creating e-learning content, but also to making sure that content is compliant with industry standards and can be tracked by learning management systems."

To earn AICC certification, Authorware 6 was subjected to testing to ascertain that content created using built-in tracking functions of Authorware would interoperate with learning managements systems using the AICC format. Support for AICC-compliant tracking enables the delivery of custom e-learning content created in Authorware within AICC-compliant learning management systems.

"Macromedia Authorware has long been a leading authoring solution for creating online learning content so it is very exciting that Macromedia has certified Authorware as compliant with the AICC guidelines," said William McDonald, AICC Independent Test Lab Chair and Learning Technology Architect, Flight Safety Boeing. "The ability to use robust, commercially available authoring software to create standards-compliant e-learning content is a real benefit to the e-learning community."
