AICC Certifies Saba

Saba Learning 3.2.5 passes AICC/CMI certification

Frankfurt, Germany - May 2, 2000 - The Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC) announced today that Saba Learning 3.2.5 has been certified as compliant with its Web Based Computer Managed Instruction Systems (CMI) Guideline. Saba, a strong advocate of open industry standards for Internet-based learning systems, has long been a supporter of the AICC.

"Gaining AICC certification demonstrates our commitment to the open standards that we believe are critical to accelerating the growth of the e-learning industry," said David Martin, Saba vice president of marketing. "Along with the more than 120 leading learning providers who have joined the Saba Learning Network Alliance, we have always advocated a strong set of global standards for learning solutions. These standards ensure that businesses get a better return on learning by increasing interoperability among learning content and learning management systems such as Saba Learning."

"Saba's certification significantly accelerates the momentum of the AICC's CMI guideline," said William A. McDonald, chairman of the AICC Independent Test Lab Committee. "Saba – and its partners – coordinated support for the AICC standards is an exemplary model for the industry as a whole."

To earn the AICC certification, Saba Learning 3.2.5 was subjected to testing to ascertain that it can seamlessly launch, communicate with, and interchange course structures for web-based courseware that is in the AICC format. Purchasers of AICC-compliant online learning and the learning providers and corporate universities who develop AICC-compliant content are thus assured that their courseware will work "on Saba". By being AICC-certified, Saba Learning enables learning providers to concentrate on what they do best – developing high-quality learning offerings.
